Salamander, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit literary organization that publishes a biannual magazine of poetry, fiction, memoir, and works in translation. It was founded by Jennifer Barber in 1992 with the aim of publishing a generation of writers reaching artistic maturity and deserving of a wider audience alongside new work by established writers. In addition to the magazine, Salamander, Inc. sponsors events and readings in the Boston area and in New York. Salamander became affiliated with Suffolk University in the fall of 2005. New Left Books was launched by New Left Review in 1970, and took as its logo the Tatlin Tower—a planned monument to the Third International. Founded in 1969, Temple University Press chose as its inspiration Russell Conwell's vision of the university as a place of educational opportunity for the urban working class. After a few years of sleep Mr. Cogito has returned to life. He had lived for more than twenty years. His model was the great Polish poet Zbigniew Herbert. Now we are looking once again for poems that have strength of image, sound, concept and feeling -- poems that also relate to the social realities of the poet's time and place.

The first issue of Hanging Loose magazine was published in 1966. The name was inspired by the format -- mimeographed loose pages in a cover envelope -- and that, in turn, was inspired by a very low budget. But the format was also meant to get across a point of view: that poetry is for now, not for the Ages. If you liked a poem, you could pin it to the wall. If you didn’t like a poem, you could use it as a napkin.

Oberlin College Press is a nonprofit literary press based at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio. The overall goal of the press, staffed mostly by poets who volunteer their time and student interns who wish to learn about all aspects of publishing, is to produce a periodical of high standing and notable integrity, along with books of superlative quality, with respect to design as well as literary excellence and originality. The Driftless Review is published by Platteville Poets, Writers and Editors, LLC, an organization dedicated to showcasing the works of emerging and established writers whose creative journeys have in some way brought them through the Driftless Region: the distinctive landscape of rolling hills and river valleys which join southwest Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota, and northeast Iowa. The California Institute of Arts and Letters (CIAL) was founded in 2003 under the vision and leadership of Jeff Munnis. Jeff founded CIAL with the help of Stelli Munnis, Mark Yoslow, and Jessica Duttlinger. We promote the work of contemporary poets through the publishing imprints of Black Zinnias and Pessoa Press. Coimbra Editions publishes poetry in translation and books that explore the process of writing.

During its long history Oberon has launched the careers of some of Canada’s best-known writers: writers like David Adams Richards, Wayne Johnston, W.P. Kinsella and Rohinton Mistry. We founded two influential anthologies—Best Canadian Stories and Coming Attractions—that continue today to support new and established story writers. We are one of the very few publishers with a continuing commitment to Canadian poetry. We have also published 38 works of French-Canadian fiction in translation, introducing mall of Quebec’s best writers to the rest of Canada. In 1971 we created the national restaurant guide Where to Eat in Canada, now in its 45th edition after selling more than 150,000 copies.

Cleaver Magazine shares “cutting-edge” artwork and literary work from a mix of established and emerging voices. We publish poetry, short stories, essays, flash prose (500 words or less), visual art, and reviews of poetry books and other small press publications. We publish quarterly, in March, June, September, and December. In each issue we present several emerging writers and at least one emerging visual artist alongside established writers and artists. We see ourselves as facilitators and stewards of the literary and artistic work that we publish.

The Song Bridge Project is dedicated to discovering, publishing, and promoting the best English language translations of important, contemporary poetry, prose, creative nonfiction, alternative genre, and book art. Our mission focuses on providing greater access to a range of literature through translation, while complementing existing journals of world literature and literary translation. We publish English translations of world literature from all languages, though our tradition has been and emphasis remains on English translations of Spanish language origin.

We are committed to a collaborative translation process, and work closely with emerging and established authors, translators, and visual artists to ensure the aesthetic integrity of each publication. Our poetry books are bilingual, featuring an en face format when appropriate, allowing our readers to experience the poetics of both languages.
