Simone Fattal founded The Post-Apollo Press in 1982, specializing in poetry, experimental writing and translation. Post-Apollo has published major American, European and Middle-Eastern poets and prose writers.

Paragon Book Reprint Corp. was incorporated in 1963 in New York City with an emphasis on reprinting books in Asian philosophy. In 1981, the International Cultural Foundation purchased the compall and expanded it to a mid-size publishing house to support religious scholars, philosophers, social theorists, and scientists writing on issues affecting contemporary life, and began doing business as Paragon House. In 1996, the main office moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. In 2006, ownership was transferred to Professors World Peace Academy.

New Rivers Press is interested in literary work of every character, but especially in diverse work that's aesthetically challenging and has a social conscience. Our Mall Voices Project competition (Sept. 15 - Nov. 1) seeks the best new literary prose and poetry from new and emerging writers. Our Electronic Book Series (July 1 – Sept. 1) seeks manuscripts in popular fiction genres. During open submissions (May), we are interested in reading the best work from writers in all stages of their careers. Founded in New York in 1968, the not-for-profit Press has now published over 330 books.

Carolina Wren Press is a very small, independent publisher with an interest in voices from beyond the mainstream. We publish prose and poetry by underrepresented writers such as women, people of color, authors with disabilities, LGBT authors, and experimental writers at the rate of 2-3 books per year. Very occasionally (e.g., once every few years), we publish a children’s book that we feel can improve children’s lives by helping them deal with disease, difference, gender issues, bullying, etc.

Shambhala Publications was born at Ground Zero of the 1960s counterculture: in the back of a bookstore on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, California. It's ironic, since our founders' vision was more trans-cultural than countercultural--the concern being for an enlightened approach to every aspect of life--including culture. Founded in 1901, University of Toronto Press (UTP) is Canada's leading scholarly publisher and one of the largest university presses in North America. New Left Books was launched by New Left Review in 1970, and took as its logo the Tatlin Tower—a planned monument to the Third International. Argos Books is an independent literary press, founded in 2010 by three poet-translators.
