Fordham University Press publishes scholarly books in the humanities and social sciences, as well as trade books of interest to the general public. Its list emphasizes philosophy, religion, theology, literature, history, and media studies, and books of both scholarly and general appeal about New York City and the Hudson Valley. We publish quality fiction and nonfiction that connects global readers with greater China’s authors and ideas, leveraging the unique resources of our home in Hong Kong. In the past, Station Hill has published books in a wide range of disciplines, from core texts in Buddhist and Tai Chi studies to literary novels, memoirs and even a primer on the art of art buying. While open in spirit to our rich and diverse history, we currently are concentrating our attentions on contemporary poetry, both original texts and English translations, and on literary and academic non-fiction. Please note: Station Hill does not accept submissions for anthologies; nor do we publish genre fiction (mysteries, Gothic romances, Westerns, science fiction, or books for children), unless underlying such genre work is a desire to subvert its conventions.

During its long history Oberon has launched the careers of some of Canada’s best-known writers: writers like David Adams Richards, Wayne Johnston, W.P. Kinsella and Rohinton Mistry. We founded two influential anthologies—Best Canadian Stories and Coming Attractions—that continue today to support new and established story writers. We are one of the very few publishers with a continuing commitment to Canadian poetry. We have also published 38 works of French-Canadian fiction in translation, introducing mall of Quebec’s best writers to the rest of Canada. In 1971 we created the national restaurant guide Where to Eat in Canada, now in its 45th edition after selling more than 150,000 copies.

The Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies has formed an imprint subsidiary to publish historical fiction centered in the medieval and Renaissance periods. Founded in 2011, Bagwyn Books is dedicated to publishing well-researched historical fiction that is appropriate for an audience ranging from young adult (ages 14+) to an adult audience. We are open to different styles and genres of writing.

New Left Books was launched by New Left Review in 1970, and took as its logo the Tatlin Tower—a planned monument to the Third International. Focusing initially on translating works of European political and social theory, economics and philosophy, the list during that decade included Theodor Adorno, Louis Althusser, Walter Benjamin, Lucio Colletti, Henri Lefebvre, Georg Lukács, Ernest Mandel, Herbert Marcuse, Jean-Paul Sartre and Max Weber, as well as major original works by Perry Anderson, Terry Eagleton, Tom Nairn and Raymond Williams. NLB’s list challenged established opinions both in the United States and the Soviet Union, and their respective satellites, as well as providing important critical analyses of China, India and South America. The publishing house was always intended to be far broader in its reach than NLR. An early bestseller was Against Method by Paul Feyeraband.

Launched in 2005, Telegram is committed to publishing the best in new and classic international writing, from debut novelists to established literary heavyweights. Telegram has published literary fiction from thirteen languages, ranging from Korean, Chinese, Arabic and Farsi to French, Croatian, Hungarian and Icelandic.

Furniture Press is a publisher of strangely poetical texts and ephemera, all which play at (but are not limited to) intertextuality and appropriation. Some want to call it poetry, but poetry can express mall differing, sometimes conflicting and contradictory concepts. This is what we thrive on: the ambiguation of art and its likenesses. Our poetics follows this process closely, and we look for similar aesthetics in the writers we choose to publish and promote.

Founded in 1977, The Sheep Meadow Press is a nonprofit press dedicated to publishing poetry and belles-lettres. Sheep Meadow is attracted to poets of great merit who for one reason or another have been turned away from commercial publishers.

Twisted Spoon Press is an independent publisher based in Prague. Founded in 1992, it is focused on translating into English a variety of writing from Central & Eastern Europe and making it available to a global readership. Equal emphasis is placed on introducing both new works from contemporary writers and work from an earlier period that has been neglected in translation. House of Anansi Press was founded in 1967 by writers Dennis Lee and David Godfrey. Anansi started as a small press with a mandate to publish Canadian writers, and quickly gained attention for publishing authors such as Margaret Atwood, Matt Cohen, Michael Ondaatje, and Erín Moure, as well as George Grant and Northrop Frye. French-Canadian works in translation have always been an important part of the list, and prominent Anansi authors in translation include Roch Carrier, Marie-Claire Blais, Anne Hébert, and France Daigle.

In 1961, Bennett Cerf bought Pantheon and it became a part of Random House. Today, Pantheon is part of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group and continues to publish world-class literature. Pantheon’s authors include Julia Glass, James Gleick, Ha Jin, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Alexander McCall Smith, Marjane Satrapi, Art Spiegelman, and Studs Terkel.
