Holy Cow! Press was founded in 1977 by editor/publisher Jim Perlman in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our first publication was a chapbook of poems by Thomas McGrath to his son entitled LETTERS TO TOMASITO. In the ensuing 25 years, we have published over 70 titles and have moved the press operations to Iowa and Wisconsin, before returning to Minnesota (Duluth) in 1988.

Little, Brown and Compall was founded in 1837 and for close to two centuries has published fiction and nonfiction by mall of America's finest writers. Early lists featured Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Emily Dickinson's poetry, and Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, all of which are still available today. Pusteblume, a journal of and about literary translation, is published in partnership between Pen & Anvil Press and the Boston University Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literature.
