Registration is open for ALTA’s first fully in-person conference since 2019. Join us in Tucson for ALTA46: The Place of Translation!

Here’s what you need to know:

Registration
We’ve kept our registration at the same rates as our 2019 conference. The earlier you buy, the cheaper the registration! Become an ALTA member today for 20% off registration, among many other benefits. ALTA members must be logged in to access the member price. Read more and join here.

As always, all attendees and presenters (panelists, roundtable participants, and bilingual readers) must register for the conference. For those seeking conference funding from an institution, roundtable participation has equivalent status to presenting on an ALTA panel, and should be considered of equal merit. If you are interested in our lottery for complimentary conference registration or our work exchange program, please plan ahead, as these deadlines are coming up (August 31 & September 18).

You can view all accepted sessions and a draft of the ALTA46 conference schedule on our website.

Health and Safety Policy
ALTA46 will be fully masked, with masks required in all ALTA-reserved hotel spaces. At ALTA, community is our priority, and one of our core values is creating a safe and positive ALTA conference this fall by reducing health risks and acting out of care for ourselves and others. By wearing your mask, you help ensure our conference is an inclusive and accessible space. Making the conference more accessible to disabled and immunocompromised participants helps keep all of us safer and healthier! Read our full Health and Safety Policy online.

Get Involved
There are lots of ways to get involved at ALTA46, and some of the deadlines are coming up soon! If you’d like to request a book for the ALTA46 Bookfair (August 1), share info about an offsite event you’re planning during conference dates (August 1), sign up for the Wayfinders program to be paired with another translator attending the conference (October 23), or sign up for Declamación (October 31), read more here

Hotel and Travel
The ALTA46 hotel block is open at the Tucson Marriott University Park Hotel. When you book your room through our link, you not only get a great deal on your room, but you also support ALTA, because the Marriott gives a portion of that room rate to our organization. ALTA’s block of hotel rooms will be released to the general public on October 10. Book early! Find Hotel and Travel information on our website.

Desert Museum Tour
Are you staying in Tucson on the Sunday after the conference, and hoping to see some cacti? ALTA has booked a tour bus to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum from 9am-1pm on November 12. Sign up and pay individually by calling Carmen at 520-622-8811, or send her an email to book a reservation. The cost is $62/person, which includes transportation, a tour director, and admission to the museum. The deadline to book is November 1. We need a minimum of 30 people for the tour to go forward, so invite your friends!
