Seagull Books, working out of Calcutta, India, with offices in London and New York, focuses on publishing world literature in English translation, serious non-fiction, culture studies, performance studies, art and cinema, with a lot of attention on exquisite design and world-class production. Since 2005, Seagull Books (London), as an international, still independent publisher, has ventured into newer fields of publishing, including series of English translations of fiction and non-fiction by major African, European, Asian and Latin American writers. Founded in 1970, UPNE is a unique publishing consortium based at Dartmouth College, the host institution. The Press traces its origins to 1915, when Edmond Meall's Governors of Washington, Territorial and State was issued. The first book to bear the University of Washington Press imprint, an edition of The Poems of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey edited by Frederick M. Padelford, appeared in 1920. Since that time the Press has published approximately 4,400 books, of which about 1,400 are currently in print. Today we publish about seventy new titles each year. From the beginning the Press has reflected the University's major academic strengths. Building on those strengths, combined with a vigorous creativity in developing regional partners, the University of Washington Press has achieved recognition as the leading publisher of scholarly books and distinguished works of regional nonfiction in the Pacific Northwest.

Building on the foundation laid by our four previous directors, OU Press continues its dedication to the publication of outstanding scholarly works. Under the guidance of the present director, B. Byron Price, the major goal of the Press is to strengthen its position as a preeminent publisher of books about the American West and American Indians, while expanding its program in other scholarly disciplines, including classical studies, military history, political science, and natural science.

The University of Minnesota Press is recognized internationally for its innovative, boundary-breaking editorial program in the humanities and social sciences and as publisher of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), the most widely used objective tests of personality in the world.
