Jacar Press At Jacar Press we believe that writers should be treated with respect and dignity. Writers and publishers should be allies, not antagonists, working together with each other. A writer’s job is to witness the world, and share that witness. This work is difficult and essential. A publisher’s job is to bring that work to readers. |

Tarpaulin Sky Press hallucinatory ... trance-inducing (Publishers Weekly "Best Summer Reads"); warped from one world to another (The Nation); beautifully startling and fucked and funny and tender and sad and putrid and glitter-covered all at once. (VICE); simultaneously metaphysical and visceral ... scary, sexual, and intellectually disarming (Huffington Post); only becomes more surreal (NPR Books); horrifying and humbling in their imaginative precision (The Rumpus); wholly new (Iowa Review); breakneck prose harnesses the throbbing pulse of language itself (Publishers Weekly); the opposite of boring.... |

Mayapple Press Mayapple Press is a highly-selective small press established in 1978 by poet and editor Judith Kerman. We focus on literature not often celebrated by either the mainstream or the avant-garde. This includes poetry which is both challenging and accessible; women’s writing; the rustbelt/rural culture that stretches from the Hudson Valley to the Great Lakes; the recent immigrant experience; poetry in translation; science fiction poetry. We also welcome poetry anthologies, short fiction and science fiction poetry. Publications are in trade paperback formats (30-120 pages). In general, we publish only authors with prior publications with reputable presses or literary magazines. We do not publish books which have been previously self-published, although parts of a longer poetry collection may have appeared in privately-printed chapbooks. |

Brooklyn Arts Press Brooklyn Arts Press (BAP) is an independent house devoted to publishing poetry books, lyrical fiction, short fiction, novels, chapbooks, art monographs, essays, translations, & nonfiction by emerging artists. We believe we serve our community best by publishing great works of varying aesthetics side by side, subverting the notion that writers & artists exist in vacuums, apart from the culture in which they reside and outside the realm & understanding of other camps & aesthetics. We believe experimentation & innovation, arriving by way of given forms or new ones, make our culture greater through diversity of perspective, opinion, expression, & spirit. |
