The MIT Press is the only university press in the United States whose list is based in science and technology. The Greenfield Review Press published its first book, a collection of inmate poems smuggled out of Soledad Prison, in 1971. Since then, our press has been a home for a great diversity of voices, including but not limited to African, African American, Arab American, Asian American, American Indian, Caribbean and Chicano poets and fiction writers. Asymptote is an exciting new international journal dedicated to literary translation and bringing together in one place the best in contemporary writing. We are interested in encounters between languages and the consequences of these encounters. Though a translation may never fully replicate the original in effect (thus our name, “asymptote”: the dotted line on a graph that a mathematical function may tend towards but never reach), it is in itself an act of creation.

Mayapple Press is a highly-selective small press established in 1978 by poet and editor Judith Kerman. We focus on literature not often celebrated by either the mainstream or the avant-garde. Founded in 1917, Atlantic Monthly Press is one of two hardcover imprints of Grove Atlantic.
